The Coat of Arms

Back in the 12th Century a knight going into battle was dressed from top to toe in armour and it was necessary to devise a way that he could be recognised by friend and foe alike. Thus began the tradition of special identifying markings being painted on the knight's shield and on the coat he wore over his armour.
When a Coat of Arms is displayed you are in fact saying that you are proud to belong to the family, culture, group or organization. It is displayed with the knowledge that your namesake proudly fought to protect his family and country under that banner, thus preserving a place for you in history.
